At Home in Old Greenwich |
|
We are living in Old Greenwich. Yes Old Greenwich - which amazingly enough is about 20 years younger than New York. A New England community, it is located in the south-western tip of Connecticut, on the shores of the Long Island Sound, and 35 miles east of New York City (Map).
Old Greenwich is quite an attractive place to live. Its provincial town center, pictureske setting on the shore of Long Island Sound, and abundance of trees give it a small town feel. Greenwich Point Park with its wide beach and nature trails is a unique nature park with a distant view of the New York skyline.
The Schools in our community are among the best in the country from the small elementary school in our neighborhood to Greenwich Highschool. Via the Metro North Commuter train you can get from our small New England town to bustling Manhattan in less than an hour.
While the seasons in New England are more extreme than we were used to from Germany - the summers hotter and the winters colder - there is one thing we can always count on: plenty of sunshine. You can catch some rays on the pictures of our seasons, even though the pictures are somewhat outdated.
